FALL LEAF PRINT

MATERIALS:

Fresh, moist fall leaves (not dry ones)

Fabric (Unbleached muslin)

Scissors

Glue

Newspapers

Wooden Blocks or Rocks

Small wooden dowel (about 14” long)

String or yarn

STEPS:

2.      Pick up all different colors and types of leaves.  (Fresh, moist leaves)

3.      Cut your fabric to a suitable size such as 12” x 12”

4.      Place newspaper on your working surface.  This will keep the colors from bleeding onto something other than your fabric.

5.      Place your fabric on the newspaper.

6.      Using your wooden block or rock, bang on the leaf one at a time.  Continue until your fabric has the pattern that your desire.

7.      If the leaf breaks onto your fabric, just let it dry then brush off the dried leaves.

8.      Glue the top of your fabric around the dowel encasing it with about an inch  on each end left out.   When the glue dries, tie the string to each end and hang up your finished fall leaf print.

APPLE NAPKIN RINGS

 MATERIALS:

Stiffened Felt in Red, Green, Brown

Glue

Hole Punch

Small Google Eyes

Thick Green Pipe Cleaners

STEPS:

1.      For each one, cut a 3 inch wide apple shape from the red felt, cut a small leaf shape from the green felt and a stem from the brown felt.

2.      Use a hole punch to make a hold on each side of the apple, then glue the stem and leaf to the top of your apple.

3.      Curl a few inches of one end of a pipe cleaner into a tight spiral for the worm’s head.  Glue on the google eyes and let dry.

4.      Thread the pipe cleaner through the apple’s holes leaving a loop in the back then fold over the end to eliminate any sharp edges.

    1.    Spread out a piece of waxed paper on your work surface.

    2.    Squeeze out a large blob of glue onto the waxed paper in the shape of a ghost.

    3.    Use the yarn or ribbon to make a loop at the top of the ghost and put both ends in the glue.

    4.     Attach the google eyes (or paper) on the ghost.

    5.    Once you have it the shape you like, let it dry.  When it dries it will be transparent.  When completely dry, peel it gently off the waxed paper.
